I feel your pain. I taught both of my sons, a stepdaughter and a Scottish exchange student, to drive and required them all to learn the straight shift. We had a Chevy Vega with a straight shift on the floor back in the day. I have numerous stories. However, the very responsible, brilliant, and successful son I live with now drove my minivan three times during his senior year in high school. He wrecked it twice and lost my keys in the mosh pit at the Primas concert the third time. It's great to look back and laugh at what we lived through. It was not so much fun in those moments of challenges.
