I found a faith community like the one you describe in the Quakers. Rather than churches, they call them meetings. Some are programed meetings (as I saw at New Garden Friends in Greensboro NC), and some are an hour of meditation as the one in Atlanta. Having been Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, and Unity, as well as participating in numerous Buddist type services and meditations, I include Quakers as a big spiritual support now even though I don't attend regularly.
