Knee Replacement Surgery, Part 1

Recently I have had a total knee replacement on my left leg. The Facebook posts on my profile provided information, humor, and support for me and others who have had or are going to have this done. Perhaps this might speak to you, too.

I am going under the knife. I’m finally having total knee replacement on my left knee. There is a continuing saga related to my knee.

After my knee gave way from me on the dance floor at the Ritz-Carlton in Buckhead 23 years ago my dance partner insisted that I see his KNEE man, THE KNEE man at Emory who had done his knees. I visited him and he told me that I had bone on bone on both knees and needed total knee replacement in both knees. I told him, “Thank you for sharing,” and left.

After doing some research and checking with some of my friends who used more natural ways of dealing with health, I started using MSN, Glucosamine, and antioxidants. My knees got better, so I was not inclined to have surgery.

During that time, I was having to purchase my own health insurance, and I found that because of the diagnosis I was then rated, and my insurance cost was considerably higher. AND I also discovered that if I did not see a doctor for this issue for three years, the diagnosis would fall off my health insurance. So that was my intention.
